Does anyone else have a spouse or SO like this, or is it just me?

A common occurrence in our home is him starting a conversation over coffee. At first it starts out as a normal conversation, seems innocent enough, but soon he will latch onto a subject (this morning it was religion) and start asking me questions about it as if it\'s a pop quiz. He will literally ask questions until he finds something that stumps me and I end up asking him if he slept through school and/or life and shout at him to \"go look it up !!\"

Today\'s pop quiz went something like this: What is the difference between being Catholic and being Protestant? But WHY are there so many different Protestant sects? Well, then what IS a schism? Who is Martin Luther? He nailed what to WHAT church? Why? What does Gutenberg have to do with it? Who was Gutenberg? WHY were church services in Latin? ....and on and on until he went onto a tangent about Muslim prayer habits and how prison facilities have to make it possible for different religions to continue to practice while incarcerated.

He will literally go on like this until I\'m either stumped or am threatening him with various medieval tortures and then he\'ll ask about THOSE (What was the bastinado?? Etc. etc.) Somehow or another he thinks this is funny and continues to do it for amusement. He certainly doesn\'t do it to learn anything.

Anyone else have one like this at home? How do you deal with them?
Oh, it\'s not always about religion or torture, it can be anything from the medicinal uses of herbs to strange objects found in a shark\'s stomach. It\'s like he\'s trying to catch me being wrong about something! Grr!
Oh, it\'s not HIM that has the knowledge on this, it\'s not an intellectual exchange.
Null...I repeat : HE DOES NOT KNOW THESE THINGS. He readily admits I\'m the smart one. He does this to annoy me.
He asks questions based on my answers to each previous question not based on his knowledge of the subject. I\'m not even kidding, this is fun and games to him. I don\'t even think he listens to the answers.
